Introduction

The Mandir (temple) in Perth is the principal Mandir in Australia of the Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan – the worldwide centre for spiritual, cultural and social welfare, based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The Organisation was founded by Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa, the founding Acharya of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi – the divine office of Lord Shree Swaminarayan.

History

From the late 1990’s devotees of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan migrated to Perth from Kenya, the UK and India congregating at a devotee’s house in Churchlands every Sunday.

Shree Swaminarayan Sidhant Sajivan Mandal Perth INC was established as a non-profit incorporated association in Western Australia in April 2010. The association registered as a Western Australian religious charity in November 2017 and shortly after purchased the Embleton premises.

By the divine grace and blessings of Lord Shree Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree Maharaj, the first Mandir of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan has been established in Perth, Western Australia.

During his vicharan to Australia in 2017, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj gave encouragement to disciples living in Perth to identify suitable premises for a new Mandir. Such a site was found in Embelton, an inner-city suburb of Perth, which is the capital city of Western Australia. Having purchased the site, the disciples requested Acharya Swamishree Maharaj to bless the new Mandir premises. Acharya Swamishree Maharaj accepted their prayers, and visited Perth for a 5 day vicharan together with a group of eminent Sants and disciples from around the world in mid-2018 shortly after purchasing the temple premises.

Together with local dignitaries, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj performed the formal opening of the new site. After consecrating the Mandir building, plans were made for grand Murti Pratishtha and ceremonial opening festival to be held in April 2020.
