On July 24, 2021, Secaucus Temple celebrated Ashad Sud Poonam, or more commonly known as, Gurupoonam, in the Swaminarayan Sampraday. The celebration focuses on honoring and remembering our beloved Guru, Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa, as his love and influence was so widely spread throughout the world.
Whilst singing the praises of our Gurus, disciples at the Secaucus Temple escorted Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa and Ved Ratna Acharya Swamishree Maharaj's murtis into the temple. Disciples performed poojan and adorned the murtis with garlands and offered fruits, sweets, food, and donations to show our love for our Gurus. Afterwards, some disciples spoke a few words and performed kirtan bhakti in celebration of Gurupoonam.
As the celebrations concluded, disciples performed darshan of our Gurus and performed aarti. After Sandhya Aarti, disciples enjoyed maha-prasad outdoors in a socially distant environment. Shree Swaminarayan Temple Secaucus continues to adhere to COVID-19 safe protocols by encouraging use of masks indoors.
