Shikshapatri Jayanti, Vasant Panchmi, was celebrated along with Shree Sadguru Din on Sunday, January 17th, 2010.

The celebration started off with a prayer to Lord Shree Swaminarayan in the form of kirtans. The disciples, led by prayers from the Poojari, then performed the Shikshapatri poojan and recital.  Young disciples then spoke about the importance of the Shikshapatri and how it impacts their daily lives. The Shikshapatri gives guidance to individuals on how to live life according to dharma. The Shikshapatri is another form of God. If one obeys the commands, he will attain Akshardham, and if one does not, he will suffer in great misery in this life and the next. One should recite it daily. If one cannot read, he should listen to it, and if one cannot hear, he should do darshan to it wholeheartedly to simply achieve Askhardham.

Dhyan was performed thereafter in the observance of Sadguru Din. Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa once said that Saduguru Din is a day to look within one’s soul and determine how much the soul has gained or fallen in the satsang since the previous Saduguru Din. It is a day also to please our true Guru, Shree Swaminarayan Bhagwan with various types of bhakti. On this day, one should ask for forgiveness and strength to grow within the satsang and to attain the Lord’s murti.

“Hey Sadguruji….” kirtan was followed by thaal and sandhya aarti. Disciples went for prasad after the aarti.
