Supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan has gifted humanity with the Shikshapatri scripture. He describes it as being the essence of all the scriptures, and refers to this sacred text as being His own Murti. Lord Shree Swaminarayan has decreed that for a disciple to remain happy in this life, and thereafter, the commandments in the Shikshapatri should be adhered to. The Lord says that this small, but extremely powerful scripture is written for the benefit of all humanity and is akin to a manual, or instruction booklet for a person to ascend from the mortal world and attain salvation.
Maha Sud 5 of the Hindu calendar is also celebrated as Vasant Panchmi, the end of the winter season and official start of the joyous spring season in India.
On Wednesday 1 February 2017, the 191st anniversary since Lord Shree Swaminarayan gifted the Shikshapatri, was celebrated in all the Mandirs of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan around the world. The 212 verses of the Shikshapatri were recited and poojan was performed. Acharya Swamishree Maharaj presided in Mankuva for these auspicious celebrations.
Vasant Panchmi is also the day when, in 1946, Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa installed the Murti of Kashtbhanjak Shree Hanumanji at the entrance of Mankuva village, in Kutch. The 71st anniversary of Shree Hanumanji was also celebrated in the presence of Achanrya Swamishree Maharaj in Mankuva.
