Vachanamrut is a compound of two Gujarati words; Vachan meaning Words, and Amrut meaning Nectar. The Vachanamrut (scripture) contains 273 discourses of Lord Shree Swaminarayan, held between Samvat 1876 and 1886. The Vachanamruts are divided into separate sections, named according to the town in which the discourses were held i.e. Ghadhada, Sarangpur, Kariyani, Loya, Panchala, Vadtal, Amdavad, Ashlali & Jetalpur.
In Ghadada Middle Section – 28, Lord Shree Swaminarayan describes His spiritual discourses. “The discourses that I have given to you are the essence extracted after hearing all the narratives in the world about the attainment of salvation, such as those stated in the Vedas, Shastras and Puranas.
This is the ultimate essence. This is the essence of all essences. For all those who have attained salvation in the past, those who will attain it in the future, and those who are currently following the path of salvation, this narrative is like a lifeline.” Therefore, the Vachanamrut scripture is the scripture of classical Hinduism, containing nectar (Amrut), in the form of divine words (Vachan) from the lotus mouth of Lord Shree Swaminarayan; and for that reason, the scripture is called ‘Vachan-Amrut’.
The 199th Vachanamrut Jayanti celebrations at Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, Shree Swaminarayan Siddhant Sajivan Mandal – Nairobi commenced with a Pothi-Yatra from H.H.
