Over 100 donors Did Something Amazing this Father's Day.

Over 100 people attended the blood donation session at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury held on Sunday 18th June on a day when many were celebrating Father’s Day.

Father’s Day, is traditionally a day to honour fathers and father figures. Many people make a special effort to and send cards or gifts. Today, the donors that attended the blood donation session offered others the ultimate gift, the gift of life.

Regular donor, Mayuri Pindolia explained, ‘Lord Shree Swaminarayan has taught us the importance of helping others and serving society. For me, He is our ultimate father, so it was a particular honour to give blood at the Mandir on Father’s Day. I hope my blood will give someone the gift of life so that they are able to celebrate many more Father’s Days to come’.

Jay Varsani, first time donor explained 'I was welcomed by a great team of people who explained the process step-by-step. The actual process was painless. Once in the recovery area, I was cared for by a nurse and given plenty of sugary and salty snacks alongside some water and juice. I just stayed positive and relaxed, knowing that the blood I donated will save lives'.

A total of 103 units were collected at the session. Thank you to all those who regularly donate and to the all the new donors we had this session too.

This was the second blood donation held in a series of charitable events that Shree Swaminarayan Mandir is organising and taking part in as part of our Sadbhav Amrut Parva festival in celebration of Acharya Swamishree Maharaj’s 75th year.

The next session will take place on Sunday 29th October 2017, which falls just after Diwali, a wonderful way to celebrate the festive season with your family.
