The mahila sabha of Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bolton hosted Ladies Day, a cultural extravaganza like no other, celebrating the unconditional love and devotion women have towards Lord Swaminarayan.
Coinciding with International women’s day, the event gives the women and girls of the Mandir a chance to reflect on the important contributions made by female disciples throughout the history of the Swaminarayan Sampraday.
The morning of Sunday 12th March 2023 saw 200 ladies gather to begin the day with a Shahi Swagat to ceremonially welcome Muktajeevan Swamibapa and Prem Murti Bapa into Mandir. Fresh flower garments, a celebration cake and various offerings were adoringly offered to the Lord.
A combination of superbly choreographed dances, kirtans and drama left the audience eager for more. From the beginning there was a tangible mood of anticipation and celebration. The day’s sensational productions exemplified that age doesn’t restrict performance. United, the young and old lined up to showcase their performances.
Games such as Kirtan Charades and Kahoot quizzes were played at various points during the event to engage all attendees. Two female devotees gave mental health and careers talks in the afternoon.
The day was brought to a close by the entire female congregation, coming together to please Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa, by taking part in Samuh Raas. Mahaprasad was served to the whole congregation to conclude the day.
“Lord Shree Swaminarayan has praised the devotion of His women disciples” and the event illustrated that sheer commitment. When we come together to please the Lord in this way, it truly is a privilege to experience. This initiative, inspired by Acharya Swamiji Maharaj, demonstrates the unique value and importance of women in the Sanstha, celebrating their devotion, talents, and tireless contribution to the Swaminarayan Gadi Family.
