On Thursday 12 September, World Peace Ambassador His Divine Holiness Acharya Shree Purushottampriyadasji Swamishree Maharaj led a special anniversary event that marked one year since the opening of the colossal Statue of Unity. The event included the recital of peace prayers to promote peace, tolerance and unity amongst communities. Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band Maninagar saluted both Acharya Swamishree Maharaj and the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The inspiration behind the Statue of Unity, the world's tallest statue at 182 metres, is none other than Acharya Swamishree Maharaj Himself, having sponsored the installation of a smaller statue at the site at this very site some years ago. Since then, He has supported the installation of several statues of the icon, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, across Gujarati. The now Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taking inspiration from this, instigated a project in 2013 to build this statue at the start of his tenth year as Chief Minister of Gujarat. Then as Prime Minister, he inaugurated the Statue of Unity in 2018.

Vallabhbhai Patel was one of the most prominent leaders of the Indian independence movement and responsible for the unification of 552 princely states to form the modern political boundary of India. The Statue of Unity is located on a river island facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam on river Narmada in Kevadiya colony, 100 kilometres southeast of Vadodara.
