As part of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan’s COVID-19 emergency campaign to save lives in India, mass vaccination centres have been set up in many of the Mandirs. In Maninagar, such a centre is situated in the new school building on the Mandir complex. This centre has been commended as being the most active centre in the entire southern zone of Ahmedabad, vaccinating in excess of 700 people every day.
As well as receiving the covid vaccination, the people of Ahmedabad coming to the Maninagardham Vaccination Centre also received Tulsi plants. These were given in remembrance of Ved Ratna Acharya Swamishree Maharaj. Tulsi, or Holy Basil, has a special significance in Hinduism. It is used during worship and religious ceremonies. It also has numerous medicinal qualities.
