The 4 month period between Ashad sud ekadashi (Devshayni Ekadashi - usually falls around July) and Kartik sud ekadashi (Prabodhini Ekadashi - usually falls in October / November) is referred to as the Chaturmas. During this time, all disciples will take extra vows such as fasting, scripture recitals, meditation and other religious observances as described by Lord Swaminarayan in the Shikshapatri, sloks 76-78. Within this period, the Shravan month is considered very auspicious and further observances are kept during the month. One of the major observances taken is to attend religious discourses. To facilitate this important observance, a special Chaturmas Katha (discourses) lasting for 15 days was held in Maninagardham, in the presence of Acharya Swamiji Maharaj. During these discourses, scholarly Sants recited and explained passages from Gurudev Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa’s Sanskrit scripture, Shree Swaminarayanbapa Charitramrut Sagar.
During this recital, various divine episodes from Lord Shree Swaminarayan’s childhood years from Shree Swaminarayanbapa Charitramrut Sagar were narrated. The Sants explained the purposes for the Lord performing such episodes, and the meanings that should be learnt from them. Together, such experiences performed by Jeevanpran Shree Abji Bapashree, Gurudev Swamibapa and His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Maharaj were also narrated.
The conclusion of the 15 day recital was held on 19 August 2020, which was also observed as Shree Sadguru Din. After Acharya Swamiji Maharaj’s Ashirwad, disciples took the opportunity to perform aarti online to please the Lord.
