On Sunday 2nd July 2006, a group of young girls from Shree Muktajeevan Arts and Culture Academy (the London Temple’s school of numerous arts and cultural disciplines), accepted an invitation from a local care home, and went to perform at their annual Summer Fun Day.
Representatives from the Heathgrove Lodge Nursing Home, which is only a short walk away, visited the Temple and were amazed at the range and quality of cultural and artistic talents that were on show. The visitors were so impressed with what they saw that they implored the Academy to send a group of dancers to perform at their summer event.
With the blessings of His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree, a group of Academy students went to perform a number of cultural dance routines for the entertainment of the nursing home residents. The residents were grateful and delighted with the performances, and said that they were, in fact, the highlight of their party. As a token of their appreciation, the residents of the nursing home made a generous donation to the Temple charity.
This event highlights the importance that Acharya Swamishree places on not only supporting international and national charities, but also on supporting the local community and building relations with the Temple’s neighbours.
