This appeal follows on from huge efforts across the Mandirs of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi around the world in fighting the pandemic and providing relief to those impacted, including Covid vaccination sites, coronavirus testing centres, food donations to front line health and medical staff, and many other efforts.
As India suffers a second wave of mass coronavirus infections, the situation has become dire. In a country where over 60% of the population already live below the poverty line and limited access to medical care, those most desperate and vulnerable are suffering the most.
Following Acharya Swamishree Maharaj’s principle of “Society Before Self”, Acharya Shree Jitendriyapriya Swamiji Maharaj has inspired Sants and disciples in the Mandirs of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan in India to help with the Organisation’s ongoing project to provide essential food, medicine and equipment to those most in need. The Organisation has been delivering aid on the ground, directly to communities who need the help most through the network of local Mandirs.
Our absolute priority is to support those directly impacted by the crisis in India. Health facilities across the country are overwhelmed and huge numbers of old and young people are getting infected and dying at alarming and increasing rates. This is nothing short of an emergency and help is urgently needed.
