Diwali Celebrations Across North America 2010 (Updated)
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. For Hindus, the purpose of Diwali is to remove all sources of darkness (ignorance, greed, worldly desires and thoughts, etc.) from within us and replace them with light, which symbolizes the true knowledge and divinity of the Lord. Diwali and the Hindu New Year are a time when followers of the Hindu faith come together and share the joy in their lives.

September 11th, 2010 marked the ninth year since the tragic events of September 11th, 2001 shook the world. Due to Secaucus' close proximity to New York City, many community members work there, and sadly, many of them lost their lives on September 11th, 2001.

India Independence Day - Secaucus, New Jersey
In the evening of Sunday, August 22nd, 2010, the Indian Caucus of Secaucus held a celebration for India's 63rd Independence Day at the Arthur F. Couch Performing Arts Center in Secaucus. The organization had invited Swamibapa Pipe Band to escort the honorary dignitaries, including the mayor of Secaucus, into the auditorium and to perform in the evening's cultural programs.

India Day Parade - Edison, NJ 2010
Since 2006, Swamibapa Pipe Band has been invited to play in one of the three main India Day Parades that take place each year in the United States to celebrate India's independence. This year, the band had the honor of leading the India Day Parade in Edison, New Jersey - one of America's largest Indian-populated cities - on Sunday, August 8th, 2010.

9th Patosav of Shree Swaminarayan Temple, New Jersey
Sunday, August 1st, 2010 marked the 9th Patotsav of Shree Swaminarayan Temple New Jersey. Shortly after Mangala Aarti, Acharya Swamishree performed the 9th Patotsav ceremony. Hundreds of disciples who had gathered from all across the United States and all over the world participated in the ceremony as well.

Bhakti Sangeet Night
In slok 103 of the Shikshapatri, Lord Shree Swaminarayan describes bhakti (devotion) as intense love for the Lord combined with a true understanding and knowledge of His supremacy and grandeur. In Gadhada First Section 40 of the Vachanamrut, the Lord further describes bhakti by explaining that there are nine different types of bhakti a disciple may perform.
