His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree has inspired a special response unit – based at Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sanstha’s headquarters in Maninagar, Ahmedabad – to provide much needed relief efforts to the people affected by recent flooding caused by the overflow of the river Tapti in August. It is estimated that up to 100,000 people have been left homeless due to the heavy monsoon floods in India's western Gujarat state.
Sants and disciples at Maninagar have been working around the clock to prepare and distribute food parcels and clean water pouches to the inflicted regions, especially in Surat and surrounding towns and villages. Not only have the tireless sants been engaged with this distribution, but Maninagar Temple itself has acted as a haven for people from neighboring villages who have been left homeless, providing essential food and shelter to hundreds. In the days following the floods, Jeevanpran Swamibapa’s sants have provided meals to over a thousand people each day.
Under the divine inspiration, guidance and diligence of His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree, Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan has a history for responsiveness to such emergencies and crises.
