As a further facet to the Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Shatabdi Mahotsav, a two-day conservation convention was held in Ranip, a suburb of Ahmedabad, on 25th and 26th September 2004.
The convention focussed on conservation from two angles; preservation of the planet’s health and preservation of one’s own physical health.
His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree and eminent sants talked extensively about the need to preserve the ecology, by planting trees, not wasting water, building reservoirs etc., to preserve the planet for future generations. They highlighted the dangers of taking illicit drugs and intoxicants such as alcohol and tobacco, and talked about the harm that people do to their own body through consumption of these addictive substances.
During the evening of the first day, a cultural drama production was held during which the true story of a young boy who became addicted to drugs and alcohol was portrayed. The effect imposed on the boy’s family and friends was graphically described. In this manner, the dangers of such illicit practises were elucidated to the entire audience.
Throughout the 2-days, the sun shone brightly and the temperature remained extremely high, even during the evenings. To make the drama more bearable to watch, the Lord mercifully showered everyone with a sudden downpour of cool, refreshing rain. Despite the rain, Acharya Swamishree remained seated and commanded that the drama should continue. Seeing His smiling face, all the sants and devotees too stayed sitting until the end of the drama.
On 26th September, the second day of the convention, a rally was held through Ranip to convey the teachings of this special event to the general public. At the end of the rally, a special assembly was held in the presence of Shree K A Pooj, a government official and Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court. On behalf of the government, Shree Pooj officially thanked Acharya Swamishree for holding such admirable socially beneficial events and for exemplifying the virtues of morality and spirituality. He commended Acharya Swamishree for His noble teachings on peace and tolerance.
In His divine blessings, Acharya Swamishree said, “It is our duty as children of Mother Earth, to do our part for the preservation of our planet. We must look after the land on which we were born so that future generations can also enjoy its beauty. The sublime beauty of the earth is embellished by trees, forests, vegetation, lakes and rivers. They are akin to the earth’s jewellery. If we destroy these, we will have tainted the splendour of our planet. We also have a duty to look after our body, the home of our soul. These days, tobacco, drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc. have become the prime enemy of the human race. Only foolish people regard these illicit vices to be acceptable. Only senseless people become entwined in their addictive lairs. As children of the supreme, merciful Lord, you all must ensure that you remain free of such flaws. If you remain pure and virtuous, the Lord will come to preside with you.”
This convention was attended by people from the entire city of Ahmedabad and many close districts of Gujarat.
