Lord Swaminarayan encouraged His sants and disciples to contribute to the welfare of the community and society as a whole, aiding those who are needy or undergoing hardship due to circumstances. Through His actions and His teachings He taught that helping others is a route to attaining moksh.
Throughout the Gurumparampara, the message of Lord Swaminarayan has been perpetuated and many charitable works have been performed through the establishment of charitable funds and trusts to aid educational, health and cultural causes for both short term needs and long term benefits.
Today the Sansthan with the inspiration of HDH Acharya Swamishree continues to perform works of charity, such as the relief work for the Gujarat Earthquake, where His Divine Holiness was the first religious leader to be present on the scene of the disaster. Other causes the Sansthan has supported include the promotion of blood and organ donor registration, raising awareness of the perils of drugs, alcohol and tobacco and establishment of educational centres. The following pages detail the charitable works conducted by the Sansthan.
